Bay Village Schools celebrates 29th Homecoming Parade

The Light the Night Walk and Bonfire event is a tradition during Bay Homecoming Week. The event is at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21, at Bay High School.

The Bay Village City School District is big on tradition, including heritage Homecoming events such as the Thursday night Bonfire and Friday Homecoming Parade (fondly known as the “candy parade” to many).

All families and residents are invited to celebrate the 29th annual Homecoming Parade and participate in all the activities planned to celebrate Homecoming Week. Below is a complete list of events taking place throughout the week. • Homecoming Bonfire and Light the Night WalkThursday, Sept. 21, 7-9 p.m.Bay High School students and the community are invited to participate in a fundraiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with a Light the Night walk event and bonfire. Light the Night luminaria will be sold at Bay High School the night of the event. The walking path around Bay High School will be lined with luminaria. Come and walk to show your support. • Homecoming Parade and Football GameFriday, Sept. 22 – 4:30-5:30 p.m. Shuttle bus picking up at the Brown Canopy Entrance (Door #2) of Bay High School and dropping off at Bay Middle School, every 15-20 minutes. NOTE: Shuttle bus does not run after the Parade. –5 p.m. All cars, trucks and floats meet at Cahoon Park, north of Wolf Road. Walkers should be dropped off at Bay Middle School and cross at the crosswalk and walk to their assigned spots. –5:15 p.m. All cars, trucks and floats line up on the road along the west side of Cahoon Road, north of Wolf, in their assigned spots. --5:30-6:25 p.m. The Parade steps off from Cahoon/Wolf, and makes its way down Wolf Road to Bay High School. Bring a lawn chair and bag to collect candy along the route! --6:35 p.m. Homecoming pre-game activities. --7 p.m. Bay High School Football vs. Elyria Catholic. Cost is $8 cash at the gate. • Bay Alumni Foundation Distinguished Alumni & Educator Hall of Fame Induction BrunchSaturday, Sept. 23 –10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Parker’s Grille, Avon Lake. Advance registration is required via www.bayalumni.com. • Bay Village Community Council’s Citizen/Project of the Year Reception, honoring Sherri Reilly and Bay High School’s Centennial ProjectSunday, Sept. 24, 2-4 p.m. Mayor Koomar will present proclamations in honor of this year's recipients. All are welcome to attend the celebration in the Bay Middle School Library.
