Contractors working for the Kansas Department of Transportation will be obtaining samples near K-92/Centennial Bridge the week of Aug. 21 for geotechnical and soil data for the design of the New Centennial Bridge. They anticipate one lane closure with a flagging operation in both directions from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Work is weather dependent. Work is scheduled to last a few days but could continue to the week of Aug. 28. For more information on the project, visit https://newcentennialbridge.ksdot.gov/. The project leads are planning a NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act) environmental public meeting at 5 p.m. Aug. 29 at Riverfront Community Center, 123 S. Esplanade St., in Leavenworth.

The Army Community Service Relocation Readiness Program offers WEEKLY PERMANENT CHANGE OF STATION BRIEFINGS. The SOLARIUM LUNCH BUFFET is open 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays at the Frontier Conference Center. Tuesday’s menu is carved roast beef, fried chicken, soup and salad. Friday’s menu is seafood smorgasbord that includes shrimp, fried and baked fish and chowder.

The Army Community Service LOAN CLOSET is open 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday in the Resiliency Center at 600 Thomas Ave. The loan closet is available to all active-duty service members, retirees, Department of the Army civilians and family members who are permanent party, TDY or PCSing.

The Combined Arms Research Library WEEKEND HOURS are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays and closed all day on Sundays. The library is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fridays.

Fort Leavenworth’s ACCESS PROCEDURES have the flexibility to periodically require that all entrants — drivers/passengers, cyclists, pedestrians — show identification at Grant and Sherman Gates. Travelers may experience occasional increased traffic volume and wait times. See page A1 for online visitor registration information.

For the safety of all patrons, remember the following when FISHING ON POST: Everyone over the age of 15 requires a state fishing license to fish in any body of water on the installation; Boating and swimming are not allowed in Fort Leavenworth lakes or ponds; All Kansas fishing regulations apply on Fort Leavenworth. Obey creel, possession and size limits.

If you can’t call 911, you can TEXT 911 in certain locations. TEXT-TO-911 is a way to reach emergency call takers via text message. Voice calls should be made if possible.

The Fort Leavenworth School District USD 207 TRACK AND TURF FIELD, also known as Normandy Field, is open to the community, but no heavy weights or Army Combat Fitness Test weighted activities are allowed on the turf, neither are golf clubs or pets.
